Thursday Thought: Don't Just Talk About It

I don't have a quote for you today. Instead I wanted to talk to you myself.

Here's the thing about being a writer, it's very easy to talk about that great idea you have for a book or how you'd love to be writer. But it's another thing entirely to sit down and write that book, finish it, edit it, edit it again, and another time, write a synopsis and query letter, send it off to agents, get rejected and do it over and over and over again until you get accepted. Or you don't. Then write another book and repeat the process again, and although you might have an agent this time or a publisher you still need to convince than that this book is worth their time and money.

So if you're one of those people who wants to be a writer then stop talking about it. Sit down at a computer or with a notebook and pen. Write. Keep writing everyday until it's finished. It could take you a month or it could take you years. But either way, write that book. Then you don't have to be that person who always talks about how they could write a book or how they have a great idea. You can be a writer, or at least be trying to become one. Ignore anyone who says you can't do it, and especially ignore yourself when you think you can't do it. Keep going. Keep writing.

If you believe you can do something, then do it.
